SKF - fakes in Sweden
In connection with the struggle against fake brand bearings we would like to inform you about the verdict of a Swedish court of justice regarding a Swedish dealer who distributed fake SKF products.
The SKF company now actively cooperates with Czech and Slovak state authorities which have been dealing with several cases of SKF trademark misuse.

Custodial sentences for trademark infringement
The Swedish court of justice has sentenced one person to one year in prison, a five-year ban on trading, and compensation for damages incurred to the SKF company due to the violation of Swedish law on trademark protection. The court of justice found out that the violator had purposely purchased fake SKF products and then sold them to unsuspecting customers with a high margin.
The case of criminal and civil law was the result of a police raid in March 2010 on shops in Stockholm and Avesta (in central Sweden), in which thousands of fake SKF products were discovered.
The SKF company cooperated with the police in the identification of the fake bearings.
Fake SKF products were marked with the SKF trademark without authorisation and packed in packaging imitating the original SKF packaging.
