Five tons of fake SKF products seized in the Czech Republic

On 22 April 2013, customs officials in Ostrava captured almost 4,000 pieces of fake SKF bearings with a total weight exceeding five tons.

This incident shows the current situation on the market, wherein some dealers try to gain a competitive advantage by deceiving customers. The industrial components market is highly competitive and some customers are forced, due to the current economic situation, to utilise alternative resources to meet their needs.

SKF has taken appropriate measures to protect its customers against fake products.
We have been exerting pressure on the fake bearings market by continuous growth of the customers' awareness and close cooperation with customs and the police.

Items regarded as fake SKF products are those unoriginal products provided with the SKF trademark without authorisation and packed in packaging imitating the original SKF packaging. Fake industrial products, such as bearings, may significantly reduce the service life of machinery and even endanger human lives.
SKF has been actively cooperating with prosecuting authorities all over the world with the aim of supporting legal measures against persons involved in trading fake SKF products.

The best way to ensure the authenticity of SKF products is to purchase these products from authorised distributors.
